Yesterday Bobby made tacos on the grill for the guys who were working on the fence. Whenever we have a big project going on at our house, he always wants to do that. The skinniest kid ended up eating 8 tacos!
Today we had a Smith family reunion. We have them in the summer every 2 years. My Aunt Toni is the one who always organizes it. She enjoys doing it. This year was a carnival theme. Bobby & I brought cotton candy for the kids. It was a big hit. He also brought a box of M-1000 fire crackers for the auction. They sold for $25. Not too shabby, considering we bought them in New Mexico for $4. The next reunion will be hippies.
Last night I THINK I felt the baby move for the first time. Although technically, it was actually early this morning about 3am. I was so excited! I have been paying attention every single day to see if I notice any different feelings and nothing. Then I felt this weird feeling a few different times at about 3 this morning when Maddie wanted to go out. It felt kindof like tapping, but from the inside of my skin. Or maybe like a little bubble popping. And it happened about 5 times. Then when I sat down later today on the couch, I felt that same sensation. I think it's her. I hope it's her! I've been waiting....
Plus, when I couldn't go to sleep after getting excited at 3am, I decided to look up the names that we have on our list. One of them had a meaning that I really liked. We'll just have to wait and see....
Bobby and I went for a walk tonite. We walked to one end of our street and then up to the other end. He thinks it's good for me. I think it's hot, even at night.

Good Night Baby
35. Enough said.
Last Friday & Saturday, my sister, mom & I had a garage sale. On Friday about noon someone stole our sign. My mom was livid. I was okay with it considering this would probably be our last garage sale in a very long time, if not ever. We all did better than we expected, especially considering that most of the items were priced at about 50 cents.
On Friday night I went scrapbooking with Kelly & Shannon. I was so tired from my sale that day that I forgot to even bring my page kits that I wanted to work on. At least I got to hang out with them. I also cut out lots of die cuts on the store's machine. I will probably make a few more if we go back again to the same place. Shannon lent me some books to read, and she gave me a pregnancy journal. It's really neat because it has all kinds of interesting information in there week by week. Thanks Shannon!
I went to USA Baby with my mom on Tuesday. Still looking for the right crib. I swear it's getting too difficult to decide. I love this one crib but it doesn't come in the color I want. hmmm.... They did have a huge bright green chair for the nursery there that I am in love with. Bobby needs to go there with me to see if it will fit in the room. It might be too big.
I went to lunch with Regina on Wednesday. We went to Si Senors in Chandler. I hadn't ever eaten there before. I told Bobby that it's a good thing I was the guinea pig for that place because he would hate it. They charge for refills on chips & salsa. Their salsa isn't chunky at all for him. My tamale was the driest I've ever had. But the company was good. Regina's trying to get her bakery off the ground. I suggested names for it. She's making me a baby quilt. Yay!
Yesterday I picked up our top caps for our fence. I went out back to choose which ones I wanted to take home. I kept saying no to all of them because they would be a little broken. The guy that works there probably thinks I'm crazy because I'm so picky. No broken ones!
Last night I went to a consignment baby sale in Mesa. I have been looking forward to the sale for weeks. The actual sale starts today but I won a pass to come the night before. Special preview baby shower sale thing. I had gone to a sale like it last year with my sister. It was huge and great and she got a ton of good stuff. So, I had high expectations. What a disappointment! They had nothing! 4 small rounders of girls clothes, 3 small rounders of boys clothes, tons of VHS videos that I don't want, 10 uninteresting toys. It was so sad. I only ended up buying 3 things: 2 skirts and one little romper. It was really pathetic. Especially since they were really talking this thing up. Saying how much great stuff they have and all name brand, blah blah blah. Not even close. I was super bumbed out. Then I came home and searched on craigslist for good deals for at least an hour, just to make me feel better.
Today the fence crew is here again. I'm glad. Bobby likes to see what they got done while he's at work.
For my pregnancy I've been feeling pretty good. Last night my thigh bone felt weird & twisted. But that went away. 2 nights ago I got my first leg cramp. I hate those! They hurt so bad. Gotta drink more milk and hopefully I won't get another one. I was looking at my belly last night. It's funny because it's definitely popped out. It's round. At the beginning of my pregnancy I lost 4 pounds from being sick and couldn't eat anything. I gained the four pounds back and I think they all went to my belly. The girls at the sale all kept looking at my belly. Compared to them, I'm not showing at all. I haven't started wearing maternity bottoms yet. I have worn a couple maternity shirts just because they're cute. But usually I still just wear my regular clothes. I'm not complaining at all. I'm just wondering when it's all going to hit me. Bobby says, "How come you aren't really showing at all?" How sweet is he? He's worried that I'm not eating enough. He's probably the only guy I know who would actually encourage me to eat and gain weight. Every night he says goodnight to me and the baby. Good night baby.

Daddy's Girl
So, we went for our ultrasound yesterday. It was so exciting. They told us we are having... a girl! While she's still cooking in the oven, we call her Poppy.
I still haven't been able to feel her moving but it was so fun to watch her on the screen. Bobby and I watched the baby flip around. She pulled her leg back and kicked my full bladder square on. I think she wanted more room. Every time the technician tried to look at her face, she'd put her hands in front like she was playing peek-a-boo. Then she crossed her arms over her chest in a big X. We could see all her bony long toes. And we saw the underneath of her nose. I swear it's Bobby's nose, just based on that. She started eating/drinking. That was so cute! Bobby thinks she has my lips. The tech said her head is perfectly oval. Then she bent into a V and had her feet up next to her head. That was so funny! She was tired of getting messed with. We loved seeing all of her little ribs and backbone. Her heartbeat was 143 and she's 10 ounces. We are perfectly on time for my due date. Bobby and I loved watching her and could have done it all day.
I get to have another ultrasound in 2 weeks. It will be a 3D one this time. Because she was bent in a V and moving her arms in the way, the tech couldn't get a clean picture of her heart. We could tell there were 4 chambers, but it wouldn't take a good enough photo. I get to watch her again! The doctor said everything looks good and healthy.
I was actually surprised of Bobby's ability to distinguish everything on the screen. He's never really seen one like it before and he was really good at it. Actually, he knew she was a girl before the tech told us. I just know she's going to be such a Daddy's Girl.

Today's the Day
I'm only a week into blogging and already turning into a slacker! Oh well. Guess it's time for a recap...
Last Thursday it started raining. I LOVE the rain! When it first starts raining and the dirt is getting wet. That's one of my all-time favorite smells in the whole world. That afternoon, I went over to my friend Kelly's house. She thought I might not want to come in the rain, but I'm fine. I don't even want an umbrella, thank you. So, anyway, she was nice enough to drag her maternity clothes out of storage for me to go through. There were only a handful of things that would actually fit me, so I got to take those home. (Everything else was too small). How nice is she?! I really enjoyed sitting over there for a little while and just catching up. In person. Some weeks we only can catch up via phone. Watching her kids run around the house reminded me of what my life will be like very soon. I could hang out with her all day.
On Friday it was still raining. Love! My sister and I went to a sale at a baby boutique that morning. Neither one of us found anything we couldn't live without really. So, I wanted to show her the same diaper bag but in a different color at a different store a few miles away. We went there and they were having an even better sale! Score! So, I got a diaper bag, some accessories and a shopping cart cover. I was really excited that we found that sale. Even though it was by accident. Then when Bobby came home from work, he brought something. A baby jackrabbit. It was so cute. He bought it some kitten milk and a bottle at the feed store and we got it to drink from the bottle. So cute. Since he had to catch it out in the rain and mud, it's feet were covered in little dirt balls. He named it Dirtclod. haha. And he also finally caught the brown bunny (Brownie) that has been running loose in our yard. He needed to catch it so it would be inside our yard when the fence goes up.
On Saturday, Dirtclod escaped from her box and we couldn't find her in the house all day. Bobby finally found her that night, hiding behind some pictures in the office. How funny!
On Sunday, we went to Bobby's sister Kelly's house. We were celebrating Cody's graduation and his mom's birthday. Bobby barbecued hot dogs and hamburgers. Aunt Lynda made that lime green jello salad that has pineapple and cream cheese in it. I was in heaven. I think I pretty much ate half the container by myself. It's funny because my mom makes it sometimes too, and I was just telling her the other day that she should make it again soon. Then it shows up at the barbecue. Yum!
On Monday, Bobby and the fence company dug the footing for the fence we are getting. I can tell that he loves being out there and being involved in the whole process. He's definitely an outdoors kindof guy. Around lunchtime, I hit number 34. Uugghh.
On Tuesday, Dirtclod died. I was sad. Bobby buried her in the backyard. At least we still have Brownie. And Brownie loves romaine lettuce! He reminds me of the cadbury bunny. Cute! I had gone to Sam's Club and decided to buy a box of diaper while I was there. I brought them in and showed Bobby. He smelled them. They smell just like a baby. Wow! It's starting to seem a little more real now. Especially with that smell. It's going to be different around here. It's been just Bobby, me and Maddie for the longest time.
"Well, today's the day." That's what Bobby said when he woke up this morning. I couldn't fall asleep last night. It's ultrasound day. He's super excited. I'm excited, but I'm a little nervous too. They will measure the baby and make sure everything looks normal. I just want the baby to be healthy. Please be fine.

Yah...Magic
Tonite was Bobby's nephew Cody's 8th grade graduation. It was a year ago that we were at the same school for his other nephew's graduation. His dad and Bonnie came down from Overgaard. And his aunt and Gramma came. It was nice to see the whole family together. It's been awhile. And his Gramma is turning 95 this July. 95! She's getting skinnier and claims she's slowing down a little. But she's as cute as ever.
We hadn't had the chance to tell his dad in person about the pregnancy. So, we told them tonite before everyone got there. They were really happy. Then when Aunt Lynda and Gramma showed up, we talked to them on the side and told them the news too. Now the whole family knows! Aunt Lynda gave me a very long hug and was so happy for us. (Later she suggested really cute names, by the way.) Gramma had a huge grin on her face the whole time. She said, "How'd that happen?" We laughed and I told her magic. She grinned, "Yah, magic...."

Yummy For My Tummy... & Soul
So, I went out to breakfast with my friend Liz today. I hadn't seen her in months. Whenever we get together, the waitress has to give us extra time to decide because we always have so much catching up to do! I had the most delicious food. French toast with pecans and caramel and whipped cream and strawberries and bananas and blueberries and cream cheese sauce. Something that I'd never make for myself at home. And it sure was nice to be able to eat all those yummy flavors, especially considering that for more than 3 months, I could hardly eat anything at all. It was really delicious.
And besides that, I really love talking to Liz. She has some of the cutest sayings, since she's originally from Georgia. She's down to earth and is a great listener. We laugh a lot together and always have a great time. I can't wait until our next breakfast outing together. It's good for my soul.

33

Uuuggghhh!!! 33. That's what I'm up to now. No, it's not my age. Yet. It's how many times I've thrown up to date since the beginning of my pregnancy. Bet you wanted to hear that much detail! Bet you also can't believe I've counted. And it's all the cat's fault. I was doing fine. Eating my bagel. Just finished feeding Maddie. Then she gets a weird look on her face. She barfed on the kitchen floor. Ewww! It's huge and warm as I clean it up. No biggie. Still eating my bagel and then Maddie gets that look in her eyes again. She starts making that gross barfing noise that I know all too well. And I just lost it. Right in the kitchen sink. Although, I must admit, that is my favorite place to do that, if I had to choose. Waist level. Garbage disposal. Nothing splashing back at me. It's rather ideal. Back to the point... now I'm at 33. You'd think my body would get used to these hormones considering I'm in my 2nd trimester. Oh well. Let's hope that's the end of my counting.
On to better and brighter things. I've been researching baby cribs and furniture. That's been fun. Looks expensive. But still fun. I picked out crib bedding for both a girl and boy. More updates on those things when I make final decisions.
I'm 18 weeks now, in case anyone besides me is counting.
We are getting super excited to find out the sex of our baby! Bobby says he's getting more excited every day. Just over a week until our ultrasound to find out. No, I don't have any idea. I'm not leaning either way. They say mothers can usually tell. What does that say!? Maybe it's because I truly have no preference. I'm happy with either one.
